What is a Pretty Kitty Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian waxing involves the removal of all or some of the pubic hair, including the hair from the bottom. Some people prefer all the pubic hair removed and others prefer to leave a strip or triangle on the pubic bone.

How is a Pretty Kitty Brazilian done?

The area to be waxed is exposed, cleaned and disinfected. I prep the skin. Pretty Kitty signature waxes are used and applied with wooden disposable spatulas. Small patches of hair are removed, with extreme care holding the skin taut. I remove the hair that spreads through the bottom area. Afterwards I apply my signature dry oil, which helps to sooth the area. I then give thorough aftercare advice. If you have any concerns please let me know as I'm here to help you and make your visit as comfortable as possible.
 

​How long does a Pretty Kitty Brazilian take?

My Brazilian’s take 7-15 minutes, depending on the hair growth, how often you’ve been coming and the clients comfort level during the wax.
 

​Can I have a Brazilian Wax during menstruation?

Many clients come in for a Brazilian wax when it's that time of the month, if you do, just wear a fresh tampon then leave the rest to me!

When can I expect to have to book again for my next wax?

Most clients normally book every 3-4 weeks, depending on their hair regrowth rate. Most clients will notice little or no regrowth in the first couple of weeks and then the growth slows dramatically over time with regular visits.
 

​Do you recycle your wax?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

​What could prevent me from waxing?

Clients taking medications/lotions to help clear skin (e.g. Roaccutane or Retin-A). Clients who have just tanned in the sun or tanning bed within the last 24 hours. Clients who are on antibiotics that contribute to increased skin sensitivity. 
 

​If I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment will you charge a cancellation fee?

When making an appointment, this time is reserved especially for you. Appointments broken without enough notice deprives another person of treatment. Pretty Kitty will send you an SMS reminder 72 hours before your appointment so you can confirm, reschedule or cancel your appointment via SMS.  When you reply "YES" to the text confirming your appointment and you don’t show up, you will lose your prepaid appointment. Cancellations after you have confirmed your appointment will result in your appointment being forfeited.
 

Do I need to do anything before my waxing appointment?

Yes. Please be clean and fresh before coming to your wax appointment. If you have come from work there are wipes provided in the room to freshen up. Exfoliate the day before & wear no moisturisers on the area to be waxed on the day of your appointment. If you haven't had a Brazilian before or haven't had one in a while, we ask you to trim hairs to around 1cm (length of a grain of rice), before your appointment.
 

​Do I need to do anything after I’ve been waxed?

Most definitely. Aftercare is very important to prevent break-outs, ingrown hairs and other reactions. My Aftercare Skin Ritual Collection is ideal and gives you everything you need to care for your waxed area.

The first 24 hours after waxing avoid heavy exercise (gym, running, aerobics etc). After waxing the pores of the skin remain open for 8-10 hours. Sweating during this time will transport bacteria into the open pores and will cause pimples. Avoid saunas, steam rooms and spas for the same reason. Do not sun bathe or go to the solarium for 48 hours after waxing - recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun or solarium. Do not use exfoliating products for at least 24 hours as this may further irritate the skin. It is recommended to avoid using a bar soap on the waxed area as it leaves a film on the skin that may cause ingrown hairs.
